TRY-A-TRI: A non-competitive race for athletes entering their first triathon. Swim 400 meters close to shore, bike 14.75 miles and run 5 kilometers. Bike is two loops around the lake.

 

SPRINT TRIATHLON:  For newer and experienced triathletes. This competition offers a challenging but fair course. Swim 800 meters, bike 14.75 miles and run 5 kilometers. Bike is two loops around the lake.

 

YOUTH WAVE:  A special competition for youth 14 to 17 years of age.

 

OPEN WATER SWIM: Swim from the south end of Lake Samish to Camp Lutherwood at the north end of Lake Samish, approximately 3 miles.

 

 
     

USAT Rules will be followed. A USAT Certified Official will be present during the race.

About This Event
Enjoy a half day in the wooded beauty & serenity of Lake Samish. The 1st Annual Lake Samish Triathlon starts and finishes at Camp Lutherwood. The Open Water Swim finishes at Camp Lutherwood.

 

SPRINT TRIATHLON & OPEN WATER SWIM AGE DIVISIONS

Age Groups Divisions: 14 - 16, 17-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 & 70+

 

Awards

Try-a-Try - No awards, just rewards, for this non-competitive distance.

 

Sprint Triathlon - Awards will be presented to the Overall Male & Female and Overall Masters Male & Female champions (Overall Male & Female and Masters Male & Female will be removed from individual age division awards). Awards will also be presented to the 1st-3rd place finishers in each individual age division, Athena division, Clydesdale division. Note: Awards Ceremony will commence at the conclusion of the event and winners must pick up their awards. Awards will not be mailed.

 

All Entrants Receive:

RAFFLE PRIZES TO BE ANNOUNCED

 

CHIP TIMING
Timing of the event will be provided by Rogue Multisport. Participants must wear a Timing Chip on their ANKLE in order to receive final results.  All Timing Chips must be returned to the Timing Co. Results will be posted at the finish line and online immediately after the race.

 

Start and Finish Line
The start and finish as well as all the transitions will be at the Camp Lutherwood picnic area.  Your friends and family can see you swim, take off and come back on the bike as well as take off and finish the run (and the race) in one spot.  Post race food includes a Salmon BBQ provided by The Lake Samish Fire Department. In addition to the BBQ, a selection of fruits, Baker's Breakfast Cookies and healthy breads will be provided.

 

Packet Pickup

Saturday (race day): 6:00 am to 8:30 am

 

On-Site Mechanical/Bike Support
There will be bicycle repair support provided prior to the start of the race on Saturday. Please plan to carry with you an extra tire and a tire pump.

 

First Aid Crew and Lifeguards
Road and lake safety provided by the Lake Samish Fire Department and Whatcom County Sheriffs Department. Lifeguards will be on surfboards and in kayaks on the lake to assistant any one who needs help during the swim.

 

Water Temperature
Surface water temperature in Samish Lake during August ranges from about 20-25 degrees Celsius (68-77 degrees Fahrenheit). Wetsuits are optional.
